World Cultural Forum(Taihu, China) is a national non-governmental organization, which has been founded, — following Boao Forum for Asia, and consulting the mode and experiences of the World Economic Forum —, to promote development of the Chinese culture and cross-cultural communications between China and foreign countries, under the concern of the leaders of the Central Government and high regard and great support of the State Council, the Publicity Department of CCCPC, China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, local governments and large-scale enterprises. It is the first cultural community established independently and given FORUM as the name of the organization in our country.

The Executive Board of World Cultural Forum(Taihu, China) works in Beijing.

I.  The Proposal 

The famous literature theorist, esthetician and former director of the Cultural Research Department of the Policy Research Office of CCCPC, Yan Zhaozhu has been engaged in research and management in the fields of culture and ideology for a long time. He has profoundly studied and driven forward the development of the cultural cause and cultural industry of our country. Mr. Yan Zhaozhu said, "We should not manage a one-off forum. We should set up a united, capable and high-efficient team to manage the Forum in a long period. We should not hold a forum once and then dismiss it. We should use the mode and experiences of the World Economic Forum and Boao Forum for Asia for reference which enjoy a high prestige in the world, and found an international and national non-governmental community organization which is scholarly, non-official, nonprofit, regular and has a fixed address and which is given the name of the place where the forum is located."  He suggested that China Federation of Literary and Art Circle should be the operative unit in charge. He proposed that World Cultural Forum (Taihu, China) should be prepared to set up as a non-governmental organization in the light of this consideration; the forum should be managed well and in broad scope and it should become a national forum impacting the world. In this way, it can be helpful for us to promote the development of the cultural cause and cultural industry, take full advantages of the cultural and academic circles, facilitate cross-cultural communications between China and foreign countries, enhance the national construction of the cultural soft power, and carry out the strategies of the central government.

II.  The Significance 

World Cultural Forum(Taihu, China) , emerging as a national non-governmental community organization, will integrate and make use of the resources such as person of talent and institutions etc., form a great platform of cross-cultural communications of the East and the West with various cultural activities, study and spread excellent traditional culture of the Chinese nation, and promote the construction of a harmonious world. The establishment of World Cultural Forum(Taihu, China) has upgraded the thinking patterns of the Chinese cultural development, and linked them with the development of the international situations of politics, economics, technology and culture tightly to explore new ways to set up a great platform of international and national cultural development, which will facilitate the Chinese cultural development as well.

III.  The Support 

On March 3, 2007, China Federation of Literary and Art Circles officially approved the preparation of the establishment of World Cultural Forum(Taihu, China), with the powerful support of the departments concerned such as the Publicity Department of CCCPC, the Ministry of Civil Affairs of P.R. China, and China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, and China Federation of Literary and Art Circles formally consented to be the operative unit in charge of World Cultural Forum(Taihu, China) on March 3,2007. On August 22, 2007, the Publicity Department of CCCPC gave an official reply to consent the preparation of establishment of World Cultural Forum (Taihu, China). On November.16, 2007, The Ministry of Civil Affairs of P.R. China approved the preparation of establishment of World Cultural Forum (Taihu, China). On March 12, 2008, the Ministry of Civil Affairs approved the establishment of World Cultural Forum (Taihu, China).

IV. The Purpose

World Cultural Forum(Taihu, China) is oriented to an academic, non-official, nonprofit, regular, fixedly addressed international and national non-governmental community organization. Its aim is, taking china as the standpoint, to commit itself to the historical inheriting and modern development of the Chinese traditional culture, promote communications and dialogues between the Chinese culture and world cultures, build an open, multiplex, tolerant character of national and international cultural forum through providing the government, enterprises and academic circles with a platform and mechanism of high-level dialogues on the development of the Chinese culture and world cultures, and make contributions to the building of harmonious cultures, harmonious societies and a harmonious world.

V.  The First Annual Conference

Taking "enhancing dialogues and cooperation of civilizations, facilitating the world harmony and development" as its subject, the first annual conference of World Cultural Forum(Taihu, China) has invited about 500 participants, including famous scholars, politicians, cultural officials, leaders of enterprises from various countries of the world, and representatives of international non-governmental organizations and media. Around the theme, the conference will discuss the following issues in depth: historical revelations and practical value of diverse civilizations, the Chinese civilization and world civilizations, coping with common challenges for promoting world harmony, the Role of Governments and NGOs in Building a Harmonious World Together, ect, The conference advocates the following two points: harmony with difference, to seek common ground while reserving differences, so as to cope with the global challenges together; equal treatment of different civilizations, enhancing dialogue and cooperation, and facilitating the world harmony and development. on the basis of everyone stating his or her own views and communicating equally, A manifesto The Cultural Consensus of Advancing World Harmony will be passed by the participants at the conference.  

VI.High-class Conferenceon Traditional Chinese Medicine Culture

On June 7th to 8th, 2012, the high-level conference on traditional Chinese medicine culture development of the World Cultural Forum(Taihu, China) with the theme of “Promoting the Natural, Harmonious and Healthy Development of Mankind” was held successfully in Nanchang. Li Keqiang sent his congratulations messages to this conference, Chinese and foreign guests from 20 countries and regions around the world including Vice Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Sapardurdy Toylyev and Former President of Vietnam Tran Duc Luong attended the conference and delivered speeches. When the Conference concluded, all the attendants jointly signed the Nanchang Declaration to promote the natural, harmonious and healthy development of mankind.  

VII.The Second Annual Conference of the World Cultural Forum (Taihu,China) in Hangzhou

On May 18th to 19th, 2013, the second annual conference of the World Cultural Forum (Taihu, China) was successfully held in Hangzhou with the theme is "Strengthen International Cooperation for Ecological Civilization". Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Yu Zhengsheng attended the Second Annual Conference of the World Cultural Forum (Taihu,China) and delivered the keynote address at the opening ceremony. More than 500 people from 23 countries and regions around the world, who are dignitaries and celebrities in ecology, culture, economics and media both at home and abroad including President of the Republic of Mozambique Armando Emilio Guebuza, Governor-General of Antigua and Barbuda Dame Louise Lake-tack, Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras,Former Prime minister of the Netherlands Ruud Lubbers had invited to attend this conference and delivered speeches. When the Conference is concluded, the guests had jointly signed a Hangzhou Declaration on Promoting Ecological Civilization Construction based on equal exchanges, each expressing their own opinions and seeking common grounds while reserving differences.  

VIII.2014 Paris Conference

From March 31 to April 1, 2014, the 2014 Paris Conference of World Cultural Forum(Taihu, China) themed as “the Silk Road—Eternal Path to the Cultural Communications Between China and the West” was successfully held in Paris, France. The conference was co-sponsored by World Cultural Forum(Taihu, China) , China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, Gansu Provincial People’s Government, Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs, and Foundation “Prospective and Innovation”. Vice President of the French Senate, former Prime Minister of France, and Honorary Chairman of World Cultural Forum(Taihu, China) Raffarin,Vice Chairwomen of the 11th CPPCC and Honorary Chairman of World Cultural Forum(Taihu, China) Zhang Meiying, Member of the Standing Committee of Gansu Province and Head of Gansu Propaganda Department Lian Ji, and Curator of Musée Guimet Sophie Makariou made speeches at the opening ceremony. Politicians, scholars, and media professionals from several countries participated in the conference and discussion. 

IX.The Thind Annual Conference

From June 18-19, 2014, the World Cultural Forum(Taihu, China) themed as “Strengthen Cultural Soft Power Interaction, Promote World Peace and Development” was successfully held in Shanghai. The conference was co-sponsored by World Cultural Forum(Taihu, China) , China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, Shanghai Municipal People’s Government, and Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs. Member of the Political Bureau of CPC Central Committee and Secretary of Shanghai Municipal Party Committee Han Zheng delivered the welcome speech in the opening ceremony. Member of the Political Bureau of CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council Liu Yandong, President of the Republic of Congo Denis Sassou Nguesso, former Prime Minister of France Dominique de Villepin, former Taoiseach of Ireland Bertie Ahem, Vice Chairwomen of the 11th CPPCC and Honorary Chairman of World Cultural Forum(Taihu, China) Zhang Meiying, the UN High Representative for the Alliance of Civilization Nassir Abdulaziz Al-Nasser, and Buddhist Master Xingyun participated the ceremony and gave speeches. Politicians, famous scholars, leaders of enterprises, and media professionals from over 20 countries participated in the conference and discussion. 

X.High-level Conference on the Protection and Development of Global Traditional Medicine Culture 2014 (Macao)

High-level Conference on the Protection and Development of Global Traditional Medicine Culture 2014 (Macao), which is around the theme that Innovating and Developing Traditional Medicine, Marching Toward a New Era of Ecological Civilization has been successfully held on November 13 and 14, 2014 in Macao Special Administration Region. Chinese and foreign leaders have attended the opening ceremony, including Chief Executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region Fernando CHUI Sai On, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the 12th National People's Congress CHEN Zhu and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Royal Palace of the Kingdom of Cambodia H.E. Samdech Chaufea Veang KONG SOM OL. On the Opening Ceremony, Director of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine of China, Deputy Director of the National Health and Family Planning Commission of China WANG Guoqiang delivered a theme speech and President of World Cultural Forum (Taihu, China), former Director of the Cultural Research Bureau of the Communist Party Central Committee YAN Zhaozhu delivered the keynote speech. About 1,000 participants, including medical experts,scientists, politics and guests from all walks of lives from 20 countries and regions attended the conference and participated in various discussions.
